Other Workshops and Retreats

The workshops listed are just a few of the presentations I can tailor to fit your congregational, educational, or organizational needs. Chanting, musical improvisation, choral festivals, special worship or ritual experiences, there’s a lot I can offer.

Please contact me to share information about your vision.  I can’t wait to see what we can create together! Be sure to check my upcoming events, too.

In addition to the projects listed individually on the website I have also offered the following workshop/retreats:

Sound Collaboration: Play Your Part
A workshop for participants at the 2014 conference of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana. Teens in this 1-hour session made music with boomwhackers and large mailing tubes to learn key concepts about working together.

Chant Encounters
A participatory workshop exploring chant types and traditions from around the world. This is offered in single sessions (overview) and multiple sessions (including improvisation, creating your own chants and more). The workshop has been offered for congregations, choirs, the 4th Annual Catholic Women’s Convocation, Christian Theological Seminary, the Wellness Community (a cancer support group), and others.

Discovering Voice and Vitality
A partnership with movement teacher Lisa Burkhard and yoga instructor Dona Robinson, this women’s retreat led participants through an exploration of chant, improvisation, authentic movement, yoga, and more.

Choral Festivals
• Heartland UU Choral Festival – I founded and conducted a weekend choral intensive for 70-90 Unitarian Universalists from  Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania that culminated in a Sunday service. I prepared the choir, designed the service, and delivered the sermon.

• EVSC Choral Festival – Served as clinician/conductor for the treble choir at a choral festival in the Evansville Vandeberg School Corporation.

Women’s Drumming Weekend – Support Staff (chant, body percussion, improvisation)
Have served as supporting staff for this outstanding workshop led by ethnomusicologist and percussionist Sally Childs-Helton. Sally has been my mentor and teacher for over 15 years. www.womendrum.org

Welcoming Transgender Persons Workshop
A collaborative presentation with Holling Smith-Borne  at conferences for the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses about welcoming transgender persons.
