Summer Sing Series ends Aug 15

Join us from 10:30 am-12:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis (615 W. 43rd) for 2-hours of joyous songs taught by ear. The event is free and all ages are welcome. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available! Voluntary gifts will support the MLK Center (educating youth, empowering families and building community).

Fall SongSquad Session starts Aug 16 

Reserve your spot today for the 9-week SongSquad Session, August 16-October 11. Try it FREE on 8/16. All songs taught by ear, all ages and skill levels welcome. The session meets from 4-6 pm. Sliding scale fee ($125-$225), scholarships available, free to those under age 25. More detail here

Singing Resistance Activation on Aug 30

Join us in song from 4-6 pm as we deepen compassion, transform righteous anger into collective resolve, and strengthen one another for the work ahead. During this FREE event, you’ll learn easy songs from the singing resistance movement, find hope and courage, and connect with opportunities to activate these songs in support of our immigrant neighbors. All ages welcome!

This event is one of many vigils occurring across Indiana, August 28-30, A Weekend of Public Witness to End ICE Detention at Miami Correctional Facility. Walks-ins welcome. Details & Registration

We Were Made For These Times Retreat Sept 19-21

A restorative weekend fall equinox retreat at Oakwood Retreat Center (Selma, IN) centers songs of resilience, embodied practice, reflection, and joyful community, helping us remember what generations before us knew: when voices rise together, courage spreads, belonging deepens, and hope persists.  Info and Registration

 

Ongoing Community Work

SongSquad Inside-Oustide — Weekly song circle at Indiana Women’s prison that includes 10 “outside” singers and 20 “inside” singers. Part of Beyond Learning, and IU Indy / Marian University collaboration.

Rooted, Resilient & Reaching — A partnership with Aspire House to build on the Northwest Landing’s deep culture of mutual care, creativity, and place-based pride through the collaborative practices of communal singing and documentary songwriting. Funded  through Indy Arts Council and the City of Indianapolis.

Artist-in-Residence — A yearlong initiative at Castleton United Methodist Church to expand communal singing through song circles, collaborative compositions, and song leader training for CUMC and community. Funded through grant from Calvin Worship Institute for Vital Preaching & Worship, with support from Lilly Endowment.

Indy Singing Resistance — Core song leader at multiple actions including No Kings Day, Statewide Day of Action Against Ice Detention, and monthly interfaith prayer vigils end immigrant detention.

Indy Winter Solstice Celebration — Music director for this December tradition of song and story for over two decades.
